For decades, black employees and students have been discriminated against due to their natural hairstyles. Braids, dreadlocks, twists, and many other hairstyles have long been considered too ethnic and unprofessional. Employers and schools across the country have put rules in place to prevent black students and employees from wearing their hair naturally, forcing them to conform to unfair standards. This year, however, states have begun to implement the CROWN Law designed to fight this discriminatory practice.
