Credit Cards in Japan - New Market Study Published
The introduction of the revised Instalment Sales Law in 2010 put downwards pressure on the growth of credit cards in 2010-2011 as card issuers were required to investigate consumer payment capacity when issuing new credit cards. This affected low-income consumers as it restricted the amount they spent on credit cards.
