Los Angeles, CA -- (SBWIRE) -- 07/18/2016 -- Los Angeles-based artist Sukunya (Suki) Wangsomnuck has been working overtime for the the past few years; she has been busy creating and editing her first documentary, 'Cooking With Love', of which, she also wrote and composed the music score. This heartfelt documentary takes the viewer on a journey through exotic small towns in Thailand where the life stories of four women are revealed in the kitchen, and through their love of cooking.
Hailing from Bangkok, Thailand, Ms. Wangsomnuck kept her desire to create the project in the back of her mind over the years while living and working in Los Angeles. A few years ago she turned her dreams into reality and returned to her mother's land to film.
"I grew up watching my mother work two jobs, yet, somehow, she always managed to cook for us daily. When I moved to Los Angeles, I came alone, and dearly missed my mother's cooking. Her meals had always filled me with such happiness and a warm sense of family. I saved money, borrowed a friend's camera and journeyed back to Thailand where I connected with four wonderful women who opened their homes and their hearts," explained Suki Wangsomnuck of what inspired her 'Cooking With Love' documentary.
The documentary showcases traditional Thai roots and values as told by the matriarchs of the family, creating a nostalgic and endearing connection for the contemporary viewer.
'Cooking With Love' is include in the 'Food Block Screening' at the San Antonio Film Festival (SAFILM) on Tuesday, July 26, 2016 at the Tobin Center for the Performing Arts in the Fiek Family Rotunda at 8pm.
