Broward County Before and After School Child Care supports student learning through Ed-Gaming
Fort Lauderdale, FL -- (SBWIRE) -- 01/12/2016 -- Award-winning, educational video-game developer DimensionU, Inc., in partnership with Broward County Public Schools' Before and After School Child Care Program, (BASCC), announces the expansion of its DimensionU educational video games platform for mathematics and literacy across 40 elementary and middle school after care sites in Broward County.
The DimensionU expansion kicked-off in October 2015 and came about after two-years of pilot programs across 11 after care and summer school sites. Based on demonstrated high levels of student engagement, and extended focused-reinforcement on mathematics and literacy curriculum, administrative leadership at each location made the choice to participate in the expansion. DimensionU's ed-gaming platform provides for differentiation of curriculum among users within a competitive and collaborative social environment that is compelling to students, because it looks and feels mainstream.
"Our company is honored to be an interactive, instructional support partner with BASCC and to have the opportunity to work with this and other district-sponsored after-school programs in Florida and around the country," said DimensionU CEO, Steven Hoy. The academic impact and inspiration that these centers provide is significant for the students and the communities they serve," added Hoy.
The BASCC department oversees 70 School Board Operated (SBO) programs providing before and after care services to Broward County Public Schools students. "Our before and after care program supervisors and facilitators are excited to partner with DimensionU in providing this relevant, educational gaming product to students," said BASCC Director, Dr. Deborah Gavilan.
