A young Hasidic Jewish man's life is turned upside down when he confronts a crime being committed in his community.
Broooklyn, NY -- (SBWIRE) -- 03/31/2014 -- ‘The Other Side’is an indie drama about a young Hasidic Jewish boy who turns to the outside world for help in exposing a crime being committed within his community. In the process his family and world are turned upside down and he comes to question all that he has believed in.
The film takes audiences into a world that they rarely get to see on screen - the secretive Hasidic enclave that exists in the midst of bustling, Brooklyn, NY. They are surrounded by artists and nomads and the pull of temptation that threatens their way of life.
Sexual abuse in religious communities is a hot button issue in our culture and ‘The Other Side’brings the silence surrounding this crime to the forefront. This film has the ability to explore unexpected similarities in very different worlds as our characters grow, fail, and triumph.
Director Dani Tenenbaum and his crew will use the funds to make the amazing script come to life. They want to bring in a name actor to play the Rabbi and are using a fantastic casting director to make that happen. They have many resources in Brooklyn and believe that the budgeting for the film has been done appropriately. The $50,000 they are asking for is what they need in order to really start this process. They plan to start principal photography in August, 2014.
This project will only be funded if at least $50,000 is pledged by Sat, Apr 19 2014 8:11 AM +05:30.
