Nelson, Lancashire -- (SBWIRE) -- 02/08/2016 -- According to recent research carried out by the Federation of Master Builders (FMB) and almost 2,000 householders involved in a survey, home owners are facing high costs every year in order to address DIY projects of their own which have gone wrong. One in five of the people involved admitted that their attempts at home improvement had been disastrous and an anticipated big reason behind this is due to poor equipment. The research is therefore expected to encourage a better focus on quality resources, something industry expert The Hosemaster was keen to comment on.
In the UK, a number of households take on DIY projects each year, often with the intention of improving the appearance and function of their home. Common tasks include painting decorating, and especially so in recent years given the rising number of cars on the road: work in the garage or on the car. Yet in light of these areas, almost a third of people surveyed said that they had needed to call in a professional to finish off their DIY job – as they typically lacked the equipment and ability to complete the task well.
It is therefore estimated that DIY mistakes and the subsequent corrections come at a considerable cost every year: millions of pounds according to the FMB. In order to reduce this going forward in 2016, a significant focus is expected to be on the buying of better and higher quality equipment to assist with DIY tasks. A number of industry experts have been quick to comment on this, including The Hosemaster. A spokesperson had this to say:
"It is unfortunate that so many people have to face cost implications because of DIY gone wrong. An important way to addressing this is to provide resources to help people do their DIY in the right way – and quality, even specialist, equipment matters – especially if you are working in the garage. People may need a certain clamp when working in the garage on a task for example, or a specific hosetail when working with water in the garden. Here at The Hosemaster that is why we provide a range of hose, ideal for some DIY tasks, as well as related equipment and garage items."
