London, England -- (SBWIRE) -- 07/25/2016 -- DVLA have recently warned the public about scams which have been taking place, asking people to provide credit card numbers and other personal details. This came about after receiving a number of complaints from members of the public stating that they had received emails, calls and texts from people claiming to be from the DVLA.

Included in these scam messages was a link to a website which had been carefully created to look like the DVLA website, but of course it was not. DVLA are strongly urging all to delete emails and text messages like these are soon as they come in – stating that they do not send out emails or text asking people to confirm personal details, ever.

A spokesperson from leading vehicle hire company Fair Rent was keen to comment saying, "It is really sad to see innocent people getting scammed, and this highlights the importance of never giving out personal details. The best way to deal with vehicle license or vehicle tax issues is by using the Gov website."
