Cluster Headache Syndrome (Cluster Headache)-Pipeline Review: Abnormalities in Body's Biological Clock Play Instrumental Role
Cluster headache that occurs in cluster periods or cyclical patterns are characterized by the severe unilateral pain primarily in the first division of the trigeminal nerve. Punctuating longer-lasting remission periods, neither provoked nor spontaneous attacks occur during remission periods. Further, cluster headache also characterized by nocturnal attacks which occur during the same time each day. Additionally, relationship of cluster headache and obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) has been found in some patients, majorly attributed to observed hypoxia or hypercapnia.
