In 1950, Elfriede Jourdan immigrated to Jackson Hole, Wyoming from West Germany, where she became the self-employed owner of a dry cleaning service that cleaned, among other things, exquisitely hand woven Navajo rugs that, as it turned out, originated in the famed Grey Hills area of New Mexico.
