Mexico Energy Sector - Market Overview
Oil has been a dominant component of Mexico's primary energy mix accounting for about 54% of the country's total primary energy consumption. Gas represents the second largest fuel used in the country with 35% share, followed by renewable electricity and biofuels (6%), and coal (5%). As of 2014, Mexico was estimated to hold about 10 billion barrels of crude oil reserves. The country's crude oil production during 2014–2020 is expected to increase marginally at an AAGR of 0.9%.
