Smileys, emoticons, emojis they spread all throughout the social media and these cute graphics are quite prominent and appealing to the masses. Though, some may find them annoying and senseless for they tend to ruin how man communicates. Are they really?
Beaver Falls, PA -- (SBWIRE) -- 09/09/2014 -- “A study in April found that the top trending word of the year, at that time, was emoji – the small digital images used to express an idea or emotion in electronic communication - which are continuing to spread like wildfire online.”
Those who hate emoticons, might as well accept the fact that they will be here for long - emoticons are slowly creeping into and dominating more apps, social networks and websites. From Facebook status smileys, comments and messages, there’s now a mobile application where users communicate with Emojis, and these are the only thing users are going to use, even the usernames will be on picture based.
The Application is called “Emoji” which is currently available on Apple App Store and the company is yet to announce whether they are going to release the app on other platforms.
The app's developers, Matt Gray and Tom Scott, revealed their plans for Emojli last July, upon knowing this, more than 10,000 people showed their interest.
In a video introduction, the developers stated: “We know what you're thinking…
“This is satire; no one would actually make this thing. It's not. And we have.”
Emoji has the same color scheme just like Facebook, white and blue. It has an inbox, settings, and a friend request page as well just like Facebook’s user interface.
Presently, the app is still rough on the sides, users can only search for friends using their username, and not allowing people to find friends through emails. Or perhaps this will stay this way.
According to Mr. Gray and Mr. Scott said the app is created with “Yo” being the inspiration. Yo allows users to simply send the word Yo.
'The two of us had the idea at about the same time - we weren’t sold on it until we realized that usernames should be emoji too,' Gray stated.
'At that point, we burst out laughing and realized we had to build it.'
Earlier this year it was exposed that Apple is working to broaden the diversity of the hugely popular emoji characters for their line of iPhones, for there are protests that the current character set was not diverse enough, the firm said it was working with the standards body that controls them.
Can this be the next big thing? With the emoji’s fame and appeal to the masses, it’s not impossible. There’s a lot more to these graphics that everyone are not seeing, most of them maybe are cute, annoying some may even find them senseless, but to others, emojis help express their message and their inner feelings.
