Miami, FL -- (SBWIRE) -- 02/06/2014 -- Empowered By You, a purveyor of high-quality Designer Lingerie, has incorporated a humanitarian goal into its business model, whereby a percentage of its proceeds from sales will go to the benefit of underprivileged women around the world.
The Empowered By You Cause seeks to empower women through both its signature product, and by funding sustainable loans via the Seven Bar Foundation, a nonprofit organization launched by Empowered By You Founder Renata Black.
Specifically, 20 percent of the company’s profits will go towards microfinance initiatives, which promote self-sufficiency among impoverished women seeking to establish a business or advance their socioeconomic position.
Microfinance consists of providing sustainable loans and financial services to entrepreneurs and small businesses that lack access to capital. The concept was pioneered by Nobel Peace Prize-winning social entrepreneur Muhammad Yunus, whom Renata Black worked with to establish grassroots programs for the poor in India. Her experience in this effort led her to found the Seven Bar Foundation in 2009, which furthers the cause of providing empowering loans to underprivileged women.
