London, England -- (SBWIRE) -- 05/19/2016 -- According to research conducted by Co-operative Insurance, a whopping 33% (almost one in three) first time homeowners buy furniture for their new home without initially measuring the space required. The research has uncovered the most popular mistakes made by first time owners, 25% of which stated it was difficult to transfer their furniture to their new abode and that 7% had caused damage to the furniture in the move due to gross underestimation of space.

The research also highlighted that over half of first time buyers estimated important information when gathering insurance quotes as they did not know the correct answers. Additionally, almost half did not budget for insurance at all for their first property. According to the research, 1 in 5 people purchase buildings or contents insurance rather than both.
