Ewing, NJ -- (SBWIRE) -- 01/15/2014 -- Goodwill Home Medical Equipment, a division of Goodwill Industries of Southern NJ & Philadelphia, is pleased to announce they are now accepting volunteers for their refurbishing department. Residents of Southern New Jersey, Philadelphia and the surrounding area, who are skillful with tools, are a perfect match for the refurbishing department at Goodwill Home Medical Equipment. The company is also accepting hobbyists, who fix items in their spare time, or highly-trained people who have experience working with tools. All levels are welcome to volunteer for Goodwill Home Medical Equipment.
Medical equipment donations, such as hospital beds, wheelchairs, walkers and more are accepted by Goodwill Home Medical Equipment. When the company accepts this equipment, they need volunteers who can evaluate the usefulness of the equipment, and make mechanical repairs so they can be used safely and efficiently by a new user.
If a piece of equipment that has been donated is beyond repair, volunteers are expected to strip the parts from the un-usable equipment to be used to fix another that needs minor repairs. Materials that are at the end of their life cycle are properly separated and recycled to help minimize the disposal of waste.
Goodwill Home Medical Equipment is asking volunteers to work a few hours a week, assisting with the equipment reconditioning process. Equipment that is repaired and cleaned will be put on the showroom floor and will be available for purchase. Individuals with experience as a mechanic, or have worked in the electrical field, are encouraged to contact Goodwill Home Medical Equipment by email at info@goodwillhomemedical.org or by calling 609-396-1513.
