South Florida law firm Hochman & Goldin, P.A. recently discussed the beginning of the Florida Highway Patrol’s (FHP) DUI crackdown campaign, which kicked off on December 14, 2016.
Miami, FL -- (SBWIRE) -- 12/20/2016 -- Called Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over, the campaign will last through New Year's Eve and places an even greater emphasis on patrolling state roads and major interstates to keep an eye out for impaired drivers. FHP personnel and auxiliary troopers will be out in larger numbers on the Florida roads as the various holidays approach.
Impaired drivers pose a risk to other drivers, passengers, and pedestrians every year. In many cases, accidents involving an impaired result in severe injuries or worse, fatalities. According to the FHP, more than fifteen people died in crashes involving alcohol between December 16, 2014, and January 1, 2015. In that same period, alcohol was involved in over 250 crashes, and over 15 occurred on New Year's Eve.
Florida drivers that happen to spot another driver who may be under the influence or driving aggressively are strongly encouraged to pull over and call *FHP or *347 from their mobile phone.
