As the Cedar River steadily rose towards its destined 10-foot crest above the flood stage, Mr. Marion realized that the physical therapy facility was in danger, and took immediate action. He and his associates fired up ImageFIRST's new 26-foot box truck, and trekked over to the facility. With the help of staff and volunteers, they loaded everything in the clinic onto the truck, and moved it to a safe storage unit across town.
As if Mr. Marion had not already done his part, he was back in action again on Saturday - this time to help community members who were not ImageFIRST Cedar Rapids clients. He took a smaller truck directly into the flood zone, and helped local businesses move their items to storage facilities.
Furthermore, on the following Sunday, Mr. Marion and other ImageFIRST Cedar Rapids associates drove a truck filled with sand bags through the flood zone and helped place them where needed, including in front of a business that had suffered severe damage during the previous flood in 2008. He and staff members worked on the levee for several hours.
