High Point, NC -- (SBWIRE) -- 08/04/2017 -- On June 23rd, a group of associates from ImageFIRST Healthcare Laundry Specialists' Corporate Office volunteered at MANNA, an organization that provides meals for individuals with life-threatening diseases, in Philadelphia.
MANNA is a non-profit organization that delivers approximately 15,000 meals each week to those with HIV/AIDS, kidney disease and other life-threatening or critical medical conditions. Their research shows that therapeutic nutrition has substantial medical benefits.
Magali Tranié, Director of Marketing for ImageFIRST, stated that the associates that volunteered carpooled to the location and worked together to turn the community giving event into a team building event as well, as they often do when completing their community service efforts.
At the event, ImageFIRST associates helped MANNA prepare meals for the day by chopping about 500 pounds of onions and 300 pounds of broccoli. They also assembled over 200 sandwiches. When looking back on the event, one of the associates joked, "Despite the onions, we managed to do it all while only shedding a few tears."
Before beginning to prepare the meals, associates were given brief lessons on how to properly complete all tasks. One of the chefs who taught the associates how to properly chop the onions was previously featured on a television cooking show, which heightened the experience for the associates.
The community giving event at MANNA was one of three events that ImageFIRST's Corporate Office has planned for this summer. As part of fulfilling ImageFIRST's company Purpose, ImageFIRST locations across the country participate in quarterly community giving events.
