IMET's Vice President of Operations Stays Busy by Growing the Company

Southampton, PA -- (SBWIRE) -- 03/24/2014 -- Those close to IMET’s Vice President of Operations Brian Dougherty, likens diverting him from his busy schedule to interrupting a runner during a middle of a 5K. This analogy makes perfect sense, considering he runs eight miles, three times a week, while staying dedicated to triathlon training as well.

Dougherty personally oversees the entire back-end of IMET’s electronic contract manufacturing business, ensuring that he gets a mental workout along with a physical one. He makes sure the entire team runs efficiently during an order placement. Once a purchase order arrives, he meets with the production teams and purchasing personnel to ensure the components are correctly ordered and ordered at the right price.

Dougherty then meets with IMET’s manufacturing personnel to schedule equipment and supervisory manpower that will be dedicated to automated PCB assembly and product development. Other production tasks include quality insurance, AOI (automatic optical inspection), and X-Ray and microscopic checkout. “Two goals are of paramount importance at this stage,” Dougherty said. “The first is goal is zero defects and the second one is on-time delivery. Achieve them both, and you have a happy and satisfied customer, but one that will never know the effort we expended.”

As Vice President, Dougherty feels that the consistent growth of IMET over the past five years has tested his management skills. “To meet the growing demand for our electronic contract manufacturing, we’ve invested heavily in equipment, people and our new 15,000 sq. ft. home. Knowing those decisions have paid off, has given our CEO Tom Krol and I a real sense of pride and accomplishment.”

Before becoming Vice President of IMET, Brian Dougherty spent 20 years with Franklin Electronic Publishing. Throughout his tenure with that company, he advanced to become Vice President of Worldwide Operations, where he was responsible for developing global electronic contract manufacturing sources. “Amazingly, at IMET I’m now in the reverse position of providing PCB assembly and other contract services to manufacturers.”
