Paolo Schianchi’s pays tribute to honor of the genius of Jimi Hendrix playing a 49-string guitar.
New York, NY -- (SBWIRE) -- 09/17/2014 -- September 18 is the anniversary of Jimi Hendrix’s death, 44 years ago. To commemorate the genius of this great musician and guitarist, Paolo Schianchi (musician, composer, researcher and inventor) has released a video recording of his live, solo performance playing a unique 49-string guitar, and many other guitars.
The words of Jimi Hendrix ‘”When I die, I want people to play my music, go wild and freak out and do anything they want to do”, inspired Paolo Schianchi to write 11 variations on a theme. He chose the song Little Wing, one of the most beloved songs of Jimi Hendrix. Red Canzian, a member of the Italian band The Pooh (75 million album), said “This guy is a genius. This video has completely blown me away! These Variations On A Theme Of Hendrix he wrote, are something that no one has ever created before in music, and it's really brilliant! A theme and its variations, but reversed, on solo guitar, recorded live, with no playback and no overdubs, performed by himself, it will make you travel across five centuries of beautiful music". Asking himself what the song would sound like in different eras from Renaissance to the present, Paolo wrote the music incorporating elements from the music of each period.
Playing a unique instrument, a 49-string guitar that Paolo invented and using his patented ‘Octopus’ system, he has created a musical tribute to one of the greatest instrumentalist in the history of rock music. As Jim Donovan, multi-platinum recording artist and member of Rusted Root, stated "Guitarists... want to see the future of guitar? This will either inspire you or just make you give up guitar for good... 100% live, no overdubs and no budget.... Just brilliant creativity and musicianship."
Paolo Schianchi is a musician, composer, researcher and inventor. His video – tribute to Jimi Hendrix is a celebration of the guitar and one of the legends of music. In the video which can be viewed on YouTube at http://youtu.be/_M8QtXKCA7w he shows his own skills in playing - among others - an instrument that has 49 strings. This is a tribute that would make Jimi Hendrix smile. His music is living on and inspiring other people, like Paolo, to create more great music.
