Dr. Ortiz offers patients who need total hip replacement surgery the benefits of two different surgical techniques. In an effort to achieve improved recovery times and better outcomes, he combines the direct anterior approach (DAA) to total hip replacement with robotic-assisted surgery. Dr. Ortiz, who earned his medical degree at the Universidad Central Del Caribe School of Medicine in Bayamon, Puerto Rico, was named the chief of hip services at Kayal Orthopaedic Center. He perfected his skills in minimally invasive hip preservation procedures, including DAA total hip replacement surgery and hip arthroscopy, during his orthopaedic surgery hip preservation fellowship at the American Hip Institute in Westmont, IL. His medical training also includes a fellowship in orthopaedic surgery sports medicine at the University of Illinois in Chicago, IL.

In addition, Dr. Ortiz and Dr. Kayal are specially trained in Mako robotic surgery. Kayal Orthopaedic Center also offers total knee, partial knee and patellofemoral replacement surgeries using the Mako robotic arm.
