Kingston, NJ -- (SBWIRE) -- 07/09/2019 -- The Kingston Law Group is an attorney practice specializing in employment law. One of their founding partners, Hanan Isaacs, will be doing a presentation for the PSG, Professional Service Group, of Mercer County.
The purpose of the PSG is a program designed to help working professionals make seamless transitions from one employment opportunity or career path to another. The group provides several different options for people looking into moving careers, including job fairs, outlooks, dealing with ageism and salaries and much, much more. PSG offers camaraderie, support, mentoring, coaching, and hope along the path. Members who land replacement work come back for congratulations and to share tips on what did and did not help their quest.
Hanan Isaacs, a trial and employment attorney, is familiar with the program and its assistance provided to the community. "Through weekly stories of challenge and success, PSG members teach me about the devastating personal and financial problems that often accompany unemployment. They also attest to people's resourcefulness and resiliency in applying to, interviewing for, and being offered new work," he said.
Isaacs will be presenting on "Essential Principles of Employment Law for Workers or Those in Transition Employment." The presentation will focus on employee-employer rights and obligations as well as laws that address employees, current, past and potential. Topics will include at-will and contracted employment, unions, civil service, lawful and unlawful hiring practices and all laws at both a state and federal level.
"Many do not realize it, but they have certain rights under law at all stages of employment. This talk will cover the fundamentals of those laws, and how individuals can use that understanding in the job search process," said Isaacs, "a trial lawyer attending PSG is like a surgeon attending a patient meeting at a rehab unit. I observe the bigger picture, learn directly from the group, and offer expert help and guidance when asked."
Isaacs is also very involved in the Princeton, N.J. area. "I also see PSG as an opportunity to give back to my community, and I am thrilled to do that for this group," he added.
The event is Friday, April 5 at 10:00 a.m. to noon, with registration beginning at 9:45 a.m. It will be held at the Princeton Public Library Community Room, 65 Witherspoon Street in Princeton. More information about the event is available on the website.
About Kingston Law Group
In 1981, Hanan M. Isaacs created a Central Jersey law partnership with Robert A. Felmeister. The firm was known as Felmeister& Isaacs. From their newly minted law offices In East Windsor, Mercer County, these two young lawyers were hellbent on creating an immediate commercial following. They took an aggressive stance on their first amendment right to advertise their legal services, including on the radio, a right the New Jersey Supreme Court was slow to recognize and support. Their stance produced a 4-year tussle with the Supreme Court, resulting in multiple hearings in state and federal court and two changes to the Rules of Professional Conduct, including the current Rule permitting most forms of advertising.
In 1988, Felmeister departed the firm to start a different career, and Isaacs constructed a sole practice focusing on family and divorce (in which he is a Certified Family Law Practitioner), employment law for workers, personal injury, insurance bad faith, and general civil and criminal defense practice. He also is an expert in negotiations, mediation, and arbitration of cases, whether as a neutral or a lawyer representing a party in those venues.
From 1998 to 2018, Mr. Isaacs hired paralegals and law associates to handle the firm's work. He taught dispute resolution at Seton Hall Law School and Rider University, taught lawyers and judges the art and craft of negotiations and mediation, served as a Mediation Trainer and lecturer for the NJ Institute of Continuing Legal Education and NJ Association of Professional Mediators (NJAPM), published many articles on divorce, family law, and Alternative Dispute Resolution, and served in leadership roles at the State Bar Association, on Supreme Court Committees, and at NJAPM. He also served for many years on successive Zoning Boards of Adjustment (in Montgomery Township and Princeton), and on his Homeowners Association Board.
In 2018, Mr. Isaacs formed a law partnership with Misty V. Avallone, Esq., a long-time associate of the firm, who focuses on matrimonial law practice, along with Tabitha Y. Clark, Esq., who focuses on trusts and estates, Elderlaw, and support for Ms. Avallone's and Mr. Isaacs's divorce and employment law cases. Ms. Clark also serves as the law firm's Chief Technical Officer.
