MathRack Teaching Tools Gears Up for Upcoming 2017 Math Conference
Wheaton, IL -- (SBWIRE) -- 11/01/2016 -- Math enthusiasts may want to mark their calendars for MathRack's upcoming annual Midwest Math Conference featuring Cathy Fosnot. The conference will take place July 27, 2017 from 8:30am-3:30pm at the Hilton in Lisle, IL and promises to be a great opportunity for learning the latest in math education, networking with other educators, and will also give businesses an ideal environment in which to promote themselves.
Especially exciting will be the presence of Cathy Fosnot. Cathy Fosnot is CEO and President of New Perspectives on Learning. An award-winning author, she speaks around the world on producing vibrant math communities in K-8 classrooms. She is the author of the book series Young Mathematicians at Work and the curriculum series Contexts for Learning Mathematics (Heinemann). Additionally, Ms. Fosnot was the founding director of Mathematics in the City – a national center for professional development at The City College of New York. She will give an interactive workshop at the conference entitled "Genuine vs Static Assessment K-5".
MathRack is delighted to have received and continue to receive support from Cathy Fosnot in regards to their products. "MathRacks support children to move away from counting by ones, towards the use of strategies like doubles, addition, subtraction and making tens - a great way to help automatize the basic facts," shared Cathy.
A series of videos featuring Ms. Fosnot demonstrating MathRack is available online including an introductory piece "Building Fluency with + - Facts".
"We are very excited to have Cathy Fosnot join us again this year and look forward to the knowledge she will impart to all guests at the conference," shared MathRack Founder Scott Rule.
Registration for the conference is coming February 2017. For updates on the event and to learn more about MathRack, visit their website or follow them on their Facebook page.
