Melbourne, FL -- (SBWIRE) -- 12/28/2018 -- Since 1947, the US Marine Corps Reserve has been gathering toys to help needy children across the United States enjoy the blessings of a joyful Christmas season. Almost since its inception, motorcycle clubs have played an integral part in its efforts.
Each year, motorcyclists throughout the US brave the winter elements to travel across the country, visiting one toy run or fund-raising event after another. This year is no different. Recent news events have shown bikers stranded in the Chicago area and others struggling through early snows in the Rockies.
Luckily, in the Orlando/Melbourne area of Florida, these weather conditions are not an issue, and riders from as far away as Washington State and Vermont chose to make the pilgrimage to the area and join in the recent bike show to raise money for this worthwhile cause, with many choosing to stay for the follow-up Toys for Tacos Night hosted by East Orlando Harley-Davidson.
Though these two major events have passed, there will be many more charity rides, poker runs and other fund-raisers presenting opportunities to bring a smile to a child's face this holiday season. Florida motorcycle attorney Brad Sinclair would like to urge everyone in the motorcycle community and the public at large to give all they can.
With the recent hurricane that has impacted the area and the accompanying economic impact left in its wake, the need this year is greater than ever before. Brad points to long-standing camaraderie that has always stood between the motorcycle community and the U.S. military and the simple truth that most of the motorcycle clubs in the country were founded by veterans. In his words, "This is just one more opportunity for us to show the real heart of the motorcycle riders in Florida."
