Rishton, England -- (SBWIRE) -- 12/18/2015 -- 35% of office workers feel unhealthy due to their main place of employment, an effect many have termed to be 'sick building syndrome' according to research carried out by YouGov. This suggests that a significant number of people are affected negatively due to shortcomings in their work environment, with cited reasons as part of the research including a lack of natural light and poor working space. This has led to calls for greater improvements to office interiors, with a number of providers already active in the field and working to prove that the office can be a place of promoting health, not compromising it.
When a significant percentage of office workers are reporting that their workplace is poorly designed and making them feel 'negative', amongst other things, this is clearly cause for concern. The impact not only on individuals but also their productivity is likely to be detrimental – and in places where this has carried on long-term, it could have resulted in significant losses.
Keen to comment on the issue was Bevlan, a prominent office furniture supplier and industry expert. They are frequent commentators in the field and a spokesperson had this to say:
"That a number of workers are reporting feeling unhealthy in their workplace due to poor office design is something which needs to be crucially addressed – as if ignored, long-term damage can be caused. This should provide the incentive for all working environments to review their design and how employees are served by it. Here at Bevlan we are proud to offer furnishings which make employees feel positive and transform the working space."
