$24,869.40 Will Enhance Safe Passage’s Health Services to Victims of Domestic Violence
Los Angeles, CA -- (SBWIRE) -- 08/15/2014 -- Safe Passage received a grant in the amount of $24,869.40 from Kaiser Permanente Woodland HIlls. The grant will help continue the mission in providing services and care for women and children who’ve escaped an abusive home environment.
“We are so grateful to Kaiser Permanente for recognizing this need in our community, and reaching out to help domestic violence survivors after they’ve left the hospital,” says Safe Passage CEO Trish Steele. “We will ensure the money goes to help the women and children in our care as they recover physically and emotionally while taking steps to a new life.”
501(c)3 Safe Passage was established in 2000. Since then, more than 1500 women and their children have come to the organization for shelter and support. Safe Passage aims to transform women in shelters to be independent within six months. Its clients have a 95% success rate in breaking the cycle of domestic violence and creating a new life.
“We understand that good health extends beyond the doctor’s office and the hospital,” said Michael Carter, Executive Director of Kaiser Permanente Woodland Hills. “That’s why we use our Community Benefit Grants Program to support nonprofit agencies that offer direct healthcare services or address public policy aimed at improving community health.”
