Normandie Bakery Still Wowing Crowds

1,500 baguettes a day baked by Normandie Bakery in LA

Los Angeles, CA -- (SBWIRE) -- 07/22/2014 -- Turning out 1,500 French baguettes is all in a day’s work for the 35 employees of the Normandie Bakery on S. Cochran Avenue in LA.

“We’ve developed a reputation for our French bread and many of our pastries,” said Normandie Bakery owner Chef Josette LeBlond. “People come from all over the LA region to buy the bread to take home. Some of them buy the bread and start eating it even before they leave the store. We don’t have a problem with that. To see out customers so happy is just amazing.”

The operation started out small in 1988, before some of the current customers were even born. Over those 26 years, the line of products has expanded. Some items are not longer available because the bakery just found the demand was not there when compared to the more popular lines.

One thing that has stayed is the French patés. Chef Josette opened the Normandie Bakery with that and sausages as the main offerings. Over the years customer demand convinced her to expand the line.

“We found people really appreciate fresh baked goods. We have some customers who come in just about every morning for a giant cinnamon roll. Others come in at lunch or on the way home,” Chef Josette said. “We stay busy to be sure.”

Today, the Normandie Bakery produces an extensive line of pastries and other baked goods as well as custom orders. Wedding and special event cakes are commonly ordered.
