Petrichor Bodywork Adds Specialized Massages for Children with Autism to Menu of Services

Certified Pediatric Massage Therapist Rachel Fracassa’s additional services provide countless benefits for children with special needs.

Lee's Summit, MO -- (SBWIRE) -- 01/29/2014 -- Petrichor Bodywork is a licensed massage therapy and health counseling service located in Lee’s Summit, MO, and is run by owner Rachel Fracassa. Fracassa, a Certified Pediatric Massage Therapist, is introducing clients to the benefits of massage for children, specifically children with Autism and special needs.

“Massage Therapy can improve sleep, improve digestion, improve social interaction, and parental attachment,” says Fracassa. “It has been shown to build immune function and increase attention span. The list really goes on and on.”

Fracassa customizes every session with her clients to ensure individual needs are met. Massage sessions for Autistic and special needs children include: a meeting with the caregiver to update Fracassa on any current issues, time spent talking and playing with the child to build rapport, massage and family education. During family education, parents and siblings can learn massage techniques to not only help the child in their life, but also learn how to provide stress relief for themselves, too.

“I really have a heart for this community; for the kids, for the parents, and for the siblings, too,” says Fracassa. “So many times, kids with special needs have to go in for treatments and therapies that they hate, but this is something that they can enjoy. I make it fun! That's good for them and good for parents.”
