The New Palace of Asia Unveils Macau’s First and Only Fleet of London Cabs

“World Class, Asian Heart” on full display with launch of unique and iconic taxicabs

Cotai, Macau -- (SBWire) -- 02/19/2012 --Fans of Galaxy Macau™ love it for being a place where world-class amenities are offered with the very best in heartfelt Asian service. “The New Palace of Asia” took this philosophy even further with the launch of a fleet of genuine London taxicabs … the first in Macau, and the most head-turning way for VIP guests to be delivered to this worldclass Macau hotel in style.

A traditional “bai sun” worship ceremony was followed by a parade of a half-dozen London cabs touring around Macau, starting from Galaxy Macau and crossing the Sai Van Bridge before heading to the Macau Peninsula. The parade then passed by Av. De Alm Ribeiro and looped around a number of other landmarks before making its way back to Cotai and The New Palace of Asia. The “King and Queen” of Galaxy Macau greeted onlookers from the cab, escorted by five others, each one carrying a glamorous Galaxy Ambassador. The convoy also made a special stop at StarWorld Macau’s VIP entrance to greet the public and pose for photos.

The history of London cabs can be traced back to the days of horse-and-carriage transport and the elegant Hansom cabs, from the French term “cabriolet”. A city staple of the 1800s, Hansom cabs gradually evolved to the motor-powered vehicles of today. London cabs are known for their exceptional comfort, in particular the ease with which one can enter and exit, almost from a completely standing position. They can accommodate wheelchairs. London cabs are also built to navigate the narrowest roads.

“Galaxy Macau is the first authentically Asian integrated destination resort hotels in Macau, but we also take great pride in providing the best amenities from around the world for our valued guests,” said Mr. Michael Mecca, President and Chief Operating Officer for Galaxy Entertainment Group. “This is what our “World Class, Asian Heart” service philosophy is all about, and it’s what drove the idea of having a fleet of London cabs for our valued VIP guests. There are very few holiday experiences quite like walking out of the airport or ferry terminal and having your own luxury transportation waiting for you – particularly something as striking as a London cab in Macau!”

Besides arriving and departing the resort in style, the fleet is also perfect for escorting guests to and from private parties and event functions. The London cabs are currently offered to Galaxy Macau’s VIP guests, including Black Card Galaxy Privilege Club members, with plans to widen availability to other resort guests in the near future.
