Battle Creek, MI -- (SBWire) -- 12/26/2013 --On December 26th a character interview with the hero of the new paranormal fantasy Werelord Thal: A Renaissance Werewolf Tale by Tracy Falbe was published at the book blog Laurie’s Thoughts and Reviews. A character interview allows the author to answer questions about a novel from the perspective of one of its characters.
Book blogger Laurie Jenkins of Texas encourages authors to write character interviews for her paranormal book features because her blog readers enjoy that format. Jenkins provides a list of questions for authors to choose from and craft character responses.
Writing from the perspective of her werewolf hero Thal, Falbe answered questions about what his family was like, what he did to relax, what his fears were, and even what was under his bed.
For example in the interview Thal reveals his dismay about how his supernatural powers bring danger to those who associate with him. Because the novel is set in Renaissance Bohemia society is actively hunting and killing people labeled heretics whether they have magical powers or not.
The author chose Renaissance Europe because she wanted to work in a setting where people historically believed in and feared magic and the supernatural. It was also a time when accusations of witchcraft were used to persecute people in a society beset by substantial changes in religion, politics, and economics.
Falbe said, “The character interview was an interesting way for me to showcase exciting aspects of my hero and novel with creativity instead of just being an author talking about my book.”
Because the author is intimately aware of the inner lives of her written characters, she found the character interview easy to write.
“I also like reading other character interviews. They’re a fantastic tool for engaging with readers. When people are looking for a new book to read, I know they want characters that will provoke strong reactions,” Falbe said.
Her hero Thal is not a typical raving monster werewolf. He is actually a good person. He values the loyalty of his friends and is not one to forget a kindness. However, if he is wronged, his vengeance will be vicious.
Werelord Thal: A Renaissance Werewolf Tale is set in 1561 Bohemia. The historical paranormal romance revolves around Thal and his hunt for the men who tortured and executed his witch mother. The novel is available worldwide in paperback and at numerous ebook retailers including the author’s web store Brave Luck Books.
Falbe has been writing fantasy fiction since 1997. Her eight other novels are Union of Renegades, The Goddess Queen, Judgment Rising, The Borderlands of Power, Rys Rising, Savage Storm, New Religion, and Love Lost.
