21-Year-Old Science Fiction Author "Beams Up" Into the Literary World
S. Alex Martin enters the literary scene with the publication of his Young Adult science-fiction novel, ‘Embassy.’
New Freedom, PA -- (SBWire) -- 03/11/2014 --21-year-old S. Alex Martin is entering the literary world with an ambitious outlook. His novel, Embassy, is Young Adult science fiction with a flare of contemporary themes. It is available online through Amazon and Barnes & Noble.
“Embassy blends astronomy and science with teenage problems and emotions,” Martin says. “Some readers have even told me they finished the book more interested in space exploration than when they began.”
Embassy follows Arman Lance, a guy who wants nothing more than to escape his dusty, desert planet and fly across the galaxy to find his friend Ladia, the girl he loves…and is obsessed with. He has mentally isolated himself from the world and believes the key to his happiness lies in getting back to her. But when he joins the galaxy’s Embassy Program to embark on a trans-galactic expedition, Arman finds himself at the mercy of Glacia Haverns, the ever-smiling adrenaline junkie who decides it’s her job to teach him there’s more to life than chasing a desperate obsession.
Martin explains that writing Embassy helped him develop a broader, more positive outlook on life.
“I matured a lot while I wrote this,” Martin says. “Not just as a writer, but as a person, too. I needed to step back from life and learn to balance it, and Embassy let me do that. Arman’s journey is my journey, except—for a while—he’s too stubborn to recognize that he needs to change.”
Several readers gave Embassy stellar reviews. Here’s what they said:
“Arman reminded me a little of Holden Caulfield, not sure of his agenda, and too full of teenage angst to ask for or accept help.” –Cathy S.
“The story has a very strong sci-fi setting, but the introduction to this future comes at a good pace, and never leaves you overwhelmed.” –Nate M.
“Arman would put himself down and not live up to his full potential just so he could stay in his comfort zone, but afterwards, he began to grow on me and I had respect for him.” –Alexis C.
