Adi Yeshaya Reaches New Musical Horizons in a New CD Featuring Four Ensembles
Plymouth, MA -- (SBWire) -- 07/08/2014 --Adi Yeshaya, an arranger and a jazz composer whose arrangements have been performed by artists as different as Lena Horne, Burt Bacharach, Doc Severinsen, Whitney Houston, Prince and Donnie Osmond, is launching a CD project that features a number of ensembles he consider as the perfects pallet of sounds for his artistry.
According to Yeshaya, "This CD project will be the fruit of my longtime quest for my own voice as an artist. Jazz music has been the driving force behind my artistry and this project will contain my jazz compositions and arrangements. I will play piano on the project but I really consider the ensemble I write for to be my true instrument. Therefore, the difficult task was narrowing down the instrumentation for this recording. The solution I came up with is quite a big undertaking, but I feel that it would be the most authentic pallet of sounds for my CD."
The CD will feature four ensembles. The Adi Yeshaya Quartet features Cory Wong on guitars; Jeff Bailey on bass; and Michael Baker, on drums. The Hornheads are also featured with this ensemble, which will perform two original compositions by Yeshaya: "Bananas Foster" and "It's All Good."
The second ensemble is The Adi Yeshaya West Coast Big Band, featuring several members of Gordon Goodwin's renowned Big Phat Band, including trumpeters Wayne Bergeron and Willie Murrilo. This group will record three arrangements and one original composition, "Hi George." The ensemble features Willie Murillo and vocalists Beth Yeshaya and Robert Robinson.
The Adi Yeshaya Trio is the third group on the CD, with Jeff Bailey on bass and Kevin Washington on drums. The Trio will perform two standard jazz tunes and three original compositions with a 16-piece chamber jazz ensemble: "Far Away Places," featuring saxophonist Peter Wertheimer; "First Snow," featuring saxophonist Bobby Watson; and "In The Morning," written by and featuring vocalist Beth Yeshaya.
The Adi Yeshaya Chamber Jazz Ensemble is the final group featured on the CD and includes three woodwinds (flute, oboe and clarinet) and 13 strings.
The initial KickStarter Campaign goal of $15,000 will fund the LA Big Band session and a portion of the Chamber Jazz ensemble session. More information on making a donation directly can be found on the Kickstarter site at www.kickstarter.com/projects/504905552/adi-yeshaya-cd-its-all-good . If contributions exceed the goal, the excess will be used to pay for out-of-pocket expense and reimbursement of labor-of-love hours that Yeshaya has poured into the project.
When asked why he would spend so many hours on such a project when he already enjoys a successful musical career, Adi Yeshaya said, "To expand new musical horizons."
The new CD from Adi Yeshaya will expand horizons in both jazz and chamber music genres.
