American/Egyptian Author Hani Selim Seeks Kickstarter Funding for the Completion of His Book 'Osama's Jihad- a Story of Unconditional Love'
This is the story of a Muslim-American confronting homophobia & Islamophobia while struggling to find his cultural & sexual identity.
New York, NY -- (SBWire) -- 07/14/2014 --It is an empowering novel; it is a conversation starter. It addresses both Homophobia and Islamophobia, it sheds light on both matters through the eyes of the main character, Osama, living in two different worlds. It is a story of unconditional love; it is about the ties that bind a family together. The story offers an insight into the lives of average Muslim families, living in the West, with strong ties to the Middle East.
The story explores the lives of Muslim-Americans through the eyes of an American born Arab. It tackles social and religious taboos, individual rights in Islam, and the rights of Lesbians, Gays and Transgender (LGBT) both in the East and the West, and the rising intolerance toward Muslims in the West.
Osama's unique and unusual first-hand experiences transported him between local Gay bars in New York City, and as far as Makkah in Saudi Arabia. It gave him a different perspective on his own life, as well as life in general, and taught him important lessons about tolerance, acceptance and unconditional love. Osama’s Jihad also attempts to bridge the widening gap between westerners and those of Muslim or Arab origins as it addresses some of the major stereotypes and false media portrayals.
