Topeka, KS -- (SBWire) -- 07/31/2014 --The American Holistic Nurses Association (AHNA) elected Rosalyn Forbes, RN, MSCH, MSN, HNB-BC to the AHNA Nominating Committee for the 2014-2016 term at the just-completed AHNA annual conference held in Portland, OR.

With decades of experience in the clinical health arena, health educator/facilitator Rosalyn Forbes brings the perfect combination of personal and professional experience for recruiting candidates for AHNA elections.
An Assistant Professor in the Nursing Department at the New York City College of Technology (Brooklyn), Ms. Forbes is frequently described by students using phrases like “A great resource,” “Amazing professor,” “Very wise,” and “Extremely helpful.” She received her BS (Nursing) from Adelphi University and both her MS (Community Health Nursing/Family) and Post Master's Degree Nurse Educator Certificate from Long Island University.
She has also earned certification as a Holistic Nurse Baccalaureate, completed the BirchTree Center for Healthcare Transformation certification program, and maintains an emergency room clinical practice.
Professor Forbes coordinates the second semester nursing courses at Brooklyn campus, and assists nursing students to utilize real-life teaching tools, obtain hands-on experience and apply theoretical concepts in health-related scenarios. Under a Perkin's Grant she created a Birthing and Neonatal Clinical Laboratory with (Noelle/Neonatal Birthing Simulator and Sim Baby) Human Simulators.
She is the Technical Support Specialist (TSS) for the College of Technology’s Department of Nursing, incorporating and using the simulators as an adjunct to the traditional teaching courses. She is involved in the Faculty Development, Outcome Assessment, Test Review, and Advisory Committees, and also spent the past several years focusing on the educational system and its capacity for fostering recognition for change, exploring and developing the paradigm shift for lifelong learning.
Ms. Forbes remains strongly committed to bringing diversity and innovative approaches into the learning environment to ensure an effective melding of a technological innovative society with interpersonal communication strategies. She is committed to making the AHNA board reflective of the needs of the organization members and the people it serves.
Rosalyn Forbes is a member of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society, the National League for Nursing, and the New York State Nurses Association. She was given the Academic Achievement and Perseverance Award by the Army Nurse Corps, and earned the Outstanding Services to the Health & Well-Being Award from the people of the New York Metropolitan area.
