Rise of the Looney Bird: Hilarious New Political Comedy Novel Calls on Brain-Washing Technology to Prepare Inept Senator for Life in the Oval Office
Masterfully crafted by Ernest Pick, ‘Rise of the Looney Bird’ uniquely fuses fact with fiction to present a side-splitting look at the chaos of Washington. Be prepared to witness one irreverent Ohio Senator’s most unique rise to power; which involves being brainwashed by a Doctor who was influenced by his Nazi youth, interactions with the ‘Foreverism’ cult and the total alienation of those once held near and dear. It all results in the creation of a political superhero who will have readers chortling long into the night as they make comparisons to modern-day Government.
Atlanta, GA -- (SBWire) -- 09/09/2014 --Atlanta, Georgia – Every voter hopes that their candidate of choice will triumphantly rise to become something of a political ‘superhero’. Of course, in reality, most elected to regional and national office fall from grace and do nothing but contribute to Washington’s endless chaos. However, a witty and insightful new novel by Ernest Pick sees this enigmatic political ‘superhero’ manifest himself; but it takes brainwashing, interactions with cults and still doesn’t provide the perfect leader laid out in Francis Henderson’s manifesto.
‘Rise of the Looney Bird’ will delight any intelligent reader who has been caught up in Washington’s chaotic spin.
Synopsis:
Poor Francis Henderson. He's rich, he's handsome, he's even a Senator from Ohio, yet he cannot make a single decision. To deal with this issue, he visits Dr. Gerhardt, a psychiatrist, once a German scientist who sought to switch brains from one individual to another, who turns the timid, diffident senator from a mouse into a man. Not only a man, but one that America can be proud of, one who speaks out of both sides of his mouth, who feigns love and compassion while consumed with hatred and fear. The new Francis agrees once more to run for the Senate. His good doctor, using a brain synthesizer, and other brain washing techniques, creates a political superhero of our times who has no regard for anyone or anything but power. His helper, Cameron Bernstein, once a reporter for a Cleveland newspaper, and adherent to the sect known as Foreverism, becomes disenchanted with his candidate as Francis becomes less and less caring and more and more ruthless. Foreverism, a sect which once brought Francis and Cameron together, has as its high priest Lopez, not quite a human, not quite a spirit. The motto of Foreverism is: It All Works. And indeed, in the quest for power, Francis finds that everything does work. The hilarious tale of his rise to the highest office in the land, of his wife who grows to fear and despise him, of his girlfriend, a priestess of Foreverism, and the various characters who create the chaos in Washington we call our government, is one not to be missed.
“Politicians are skewered life and right in a book that, while primarily fiction, will help readers see Washington’s tumultuous cultures in a new light,” explains Pick. “If you look at our politicians, many of them spend their lives in and out of closed-door meetings and pledging to put more police officers and guns on the streets to solve a myriad of different problems. What if a real trend-bucker came along – could they change things? What kind of a person would they have to be? My book proposes the idea that there’s no sane individual out there up to the job. Perhaps altering their brain is the only way!”
Continuing, “Henderson is certainly an unconventional character. He finds himself engaging in stunts with his cult (such as the egg yoke stunt in which he joins others in exchanging their inner and outer selves) and even supporting the building of a submarine in the basement of the White House, with the hope of one day launching it into the Potomac River. Unlikely – yes? A microcosm of real-life Washington’s quirkiness – absolutely!”
With the book’s popularity expected to increase, interested readers are urged to purchase their copies as soon as possible.
