Owner of Lake Appliance Repair Speaks at Orangevale Chamber of Commerce Meeting
Scott McConnell discusses education and strategic growth at the Orangevale Chamber of Commerce's Business Before Breakfast meeting.
Orangevale, CA -- (SBWire) -- 10/28/2014 --Scott McConnell, President and founder of Lake Appliance Repair, was invited to speak at the Orangevale Chamber of Commerce’s Business Before Breakfast meeting on September 25, 2014. The Chamber asked McConnell to speak as their Business Spotlight Member. “I was honored by the Chamber’s invitation to speak. My goal as a local business owner is to be actively involved in the community and stay engaged with the people of Orangevale,” says McConnell. Lake Appliance Repair has been a member of the Orangevale Chamber for seven years, and frequently attends their regular meetings and events.
During the speech, McConnell discussed the company’s strategy for growth. “We put a large focus on First Call Completes (FCC), meaning our technicians aim to fix the appliance on the first visit out to the customer’s home,” said McConnell. “The value of the First Call Complete is twofold: First, it allows us to establish a positive service experience with our customers, which helps our reputation and customer retention. Second, it reduces our cost to run the service call, which gives us extra revenue to expand our services and fleet.” McConnell explained that achieving the FCC requires an in-depth management strategy, as well as extensive knowledge of inventory management, industry trends, and administrative procedures. Technicians must also be fully trained to properly diagnose and repair a wide range of appliance problems.
McConnell also discussed the company’s long term goal to develop better training and education for technicians in the Sacramento region. “Our General Manager, Krystle McConnell, is constantly pursuing educational resources for our technicians,” he explained. According to McConnell, Krystle’s end goal is to develop a school to teach appliance repair in Sacramento. “One of the driving forces behind this idea is to bring more qualified technicians into our region,” said McConnell. The McConnells know from experience that good customer service is driven by competent and knowledgeable technicians that are able to explain the problem and solution to their customers. “A school would not only train future technicians for our company, but teach valuable skills for a successful career in a demanding industry,” said Scott McConnell.
Orangevale Chamber’s Vice President, Jim Beilgard, concluded the meeting with a personal testament about his experience with Lake Appliance Repair. “I received service that went above and beyond,” said Jim Beilgard. Lake Appliance Repair now has 20 employees, including office staff and technicians.
