This Summer: Pranks & Love Collide in Powerful New Teen Fiction Novel from Courtney Ali
The masterfully-crafted ‘This Summer’ sees two old friends hook back up but where they left off years before; a light-hearted friendship held together by pranks that keep life interesting. Will love weave its way through the joke-filled cracks? If so, will it burn longer than their laughter?
Jacksonville, FL -- (SBWire) -- 10/29/2014 --While romance is quickly becoming a staple of the teen fiction genre, both readers and critics are crying out for wholly-unique new narratives that don’t succumb to recycling of the ‘same-old’ concepts. Thankfully, author Courtney Ali is answering the call with gusto.
‘This Simmer’ may be titled simply, but it’s an intricate story that will fire up the hearts and imaginations of any young reader looking to find love in the strangest of places.
Synopsis:
Eighteen year old Catilina is ready to start the summer right after graduation. She's all set to kick back her flip flops and hang out with her best friends Jennifer, Roxie, and Allison. Everything seems normal till the Evans show up at her high school graduation.
That also includes seeing her long-time childhood, prankster friend, Ryan Evans who grew exceptionally hot throughout the years of not seeing each other. They pick off with their pranks where they left off, but will it last for long?
“This novel examines themes of love that won’t die, the value of kinship and the risk of over-stepping a perfectly comfortable relationship into something fuelled by love,” explains Ali. “Our two protagonists naturally have a longing for one another, but it could go in any direction as they approach their new feelings with old character traits.”
Continuing, “It’s of course primarily a book for teen girls, but women (and some men!) of all ages will revel in a romantic story that explores themes beyond those typical for its genre. Anything could happen – just like a good prank!”
Ali is thoroughly enjoying the process of becoming an author and plans further releases in the future.
“This is one of my first teen fiction books. I’m quickly coming to learn how important marketing is for an indie author, and I’m now passionate about reaching as wide an audience as possible so I can continue to release books long into the future. Who knows, Catilina and Ryan may have many more adventures just around the corner!” she adds.
