Cheshire, UK -- (SBWire) -- 12/24/2014 --On 5th December 2014, The BACTA NW Charity Christmas Ball was held at the Adelphi Hotel in Liverpool. Once again, the popular ball was well attended and raised fund for charity.

BACTA is the trade association for the amusement's industry within the UK. The organisation was founded in 1974. Today, the association has over 1000 members and it represents the interests of over 500 companies. It is the biggest Trade Association in the gaming sector.

The association set up its Charitable Trust in 1990. Every 2 to 3 years the Charitable Trust finds a new charity to work in partnership with. During their three-year partnership with Macmillan Cancer Support, £116,973.60 was raised and given to the charity.

Each year the event follows a theme. This year it was based on Liverpool's most famous band The Beatles, which proved very popular.

Chris Manion, Director of Manco Automatics attended the event with his wife and daughter. For two years he was Chairman of BACTA; which is the standard tenure before the next chairman takes over, soChris had been involved in organising past charity balls. This year he shared his experience with the new chairman, Mick Blanche offering practical help as well as advice. Mr Manion said of this year's event:

About The Children's Adventure Farm
The Children's Adventure Farm is based at Booth Bank Farm in Lymm, Cheshire. They offer a range of programmes for children living in the northwest who are disadvantaged, disabled or who are terminally ill.

The farm offers a range of facilities including an art room, multi-sensory suit, nature reserve and many other activities that are designed to meet the, often specialist, needs of all children that visit. As well as day trips disabled children have the opportunity to stay at the farm with their family and carers in the courtyard apartment, which is fitted out with hoists and other assisted living equipment. Respite care is also available for children allowing them to enjoy a holiday while their family takes a break from providing around the clock care. There is also less specialist accommodation available in the `17th century farmhouse.

Ricky Tomlinson, who played Jim Royle in the very popular sitcom The Royle Family, was the guest of honour. He is well known for his support of children's charities in the area. In 2008, he donated £1 million to Alder Hey Children's Hospital. The donation was used to help the hospital to build a £1.5m unit to accommodate the families of children who needed long-term treatment.
