This press release is to inform readers that MyIdentityDoctor.com offers five ways to save a life when struck with an allergic reaction.
Lakewood, CO -- (SBWire) -- 01/06/2015 --Anaphylactic shock is a serious medical issue that affects thousands of people every year, killing 200 of those in the United States alone. Usually, symptoms include an itchy rash, hives, swelling of the throat and/or lips, low blood pressure, nausea, and localized swelling. It is because of the serious, life-threatening issue that food and other conditions can cause, that wearing medical ID bracelets is so important.
A representative from MyIdentityDoctor.com stated, "Anaphylactic shock is on the increase. Wearing medical ID bracelets to protect you against your particular allergies could save your life. We offer durable peanut allergy bracelet, penicillin allergy ID bracelet, sulfa allergy bracelet, latex allergy bracelets and more. These medical ID bracelets could be your first line of defense against a fatal anaphylactic shock."
Five Ways to Save a Life during an Allergic Reaction
If someone is having an allergic reaction, time is of the essence. The very first thing to do is to remove the allergen, if the allergen is obvious (a peanut, a bee sting, etc.). The second is to call 911 so that medical personnel can be on the scene as soon as possible. Thirdly, ask the person if they have an epinephrine injector, if they don't, ask anyone nearby if they do. Lie the person flat on their back, they may need help with the injection, if they do, inject it into the meat of their thigh. Loosen their clothing and cover them with a blanket. Don't give them anything to drink. If they are vomiting or bleeding from the mouth, lie them on their side to avoid choking. If no epinephrine injector is available, the fourth way to save a life is to use an antihistamine such as Benadryl. This well-known antihistamine will likely calm the allergy symptoms and allow the person to at least regain some composure before medical personnel arrive. Lastly, if the person has stopped breathing, and there is no sign of movement, administer CPR. If you are unable to, find someone who can.
