Elmwood Park Zoo Begins Winter Care Appeal Fundraiser
Norristown, PA -- (SBWire) -- 01/07/2015 --Elmwood Park Zoo has kicked off its Winter Care Appeal, an annual fundraiser that aims to support the non-profit organization at a time of the year when revenue is at its lowest. As one of the primary locations for things to do in Bucks County, PA, the Elmwood Park Zoo relies on admission and concession income to fund the caretaking of the hundreds of rare and endangered animals in its collection. Winter's inclement weather negatively impacts the Zoo's attendance and thus directly affects the Zoo's purchasing ability. This year's Winter Care Appeal has a fundraising goal of $100,000. The Zoo hopes to raise this money to offset its loss in revenue that would normally go toward animal care and facility maintenance.
The Appeal began unofficially in mid-December with a direct mail letter that was sent to those who have supported the Zoo in the past. Individuals making a purchase from the Zoo's website in December were also encouraged to make an additional donation to the Winter Care Appeal. These efforts have generated over $25,000 so far toward the Appeal's $100,000 goal. A fundraiser thermometer sign posted outside the Zoo's Nature Shop tracks the fundraiser's progress.
Individuals can visit http://www.elmwoodparkzoo.org/ to follow along, as well.
The Zoo encourages those wishing to lend their support to visit their website and click on the Winter Care Appeal banner to make a tax-deductible donation. Individuals can also call 610.277.3825 ext. 229 and make a donation over the phone. With continued support, Elmwood Park Zoo hopes to remain a destination that offers some of the top things to do near Philadelphia in 2015 and many years to come.
