The McCrary Family Mourns the Passing of Their Beloved Mentor Andrae Crouch
Laurel, MD -- (SBWire) -- 02/06/2015 --The musical group the McCrary Family are saddened to announce the recent passing of Andrae Crouch. They are devastated by the loss of their long time friend, collaborator, and mentor. The weeks since his passing have been difficult but they take solace in the profound impact that he had on their lives through the years. They will always remember Andrae not only for the role he played in their professional lives but also the closeness they shared in their personal lives.
Mr. Crouch's legacy was far spread and wide reaching. As a musical performer, producer and arranger, he influenced many of today's and yesterday's superstars.
The McCrary Family's own journey with Andrae began as they were starting out in the music business. He not only helped them to develop their talent and create their music but he also became part of their family. Through the years, Andrae collaborated with the McCrarys on numerous projects helping to open doors for them to further their solo aspirations, album releases, collaborations, and backup opportunities.
Andrae Crouch wore many hats during his life. He was an accomplished Gospel singer, songwriter, arranger, and record producer. But he was also a pastor. He touched so many musical genres from Gospel to Contemporary Christian, Pop, and R&B. He also created original musical arraignments for the movies The Color Purple and The Lion King. He received numerous accolades over the course of his career including seven Grammys. Although he was 72 years old at the time of his passing, he was still very active in music.

The McCrary Family started in the 1970's as a Gospel music group before switching to R&B. As a group, they have released a number of albums and singles, which have resulted in two Grammy nominations. They have also worked solo and collectively as backup singers to numerous acts including Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, Andrae Crouch, Ozzy Osborne, Celine Dion, and many more. As well, they have appeared on numerous television shows including Soul Train, General Hospital, and Mike and Molly. They continue to perform and record music to this day.
