Long Time Executive Appointed Chairperson for International Trade Council in Singapore

Singapore -- (SBWire) -- 03/12/2015 --Mr. David Tong How Heng has been named chairperson of the International Trade Council in Singapore.

Heng, who is a qualified Chartered Accountant in Australia and Singapore, started his working life with Arthur Andersen &Co. in Sydney and Singapore for a total of around eight years.

He started the firm of Medora & Tong which soon after merged with Touche' Ross &Co Singapore and was admitted as a member firm of Touche Ross International. "I (together with Mr Medora) spent the next ten years working as the managing partner of Touche Ross & Co in Singapore," says Heng. "It was truly a wonderful experience to see the company grew in size and expanded its scope of services." Touche' Ross & Co. merged with Deliotte and is now known as Deliotte Touche Tohmatsu.

Heng brings other beneficial experience and expertise to ITC. During his tenure at Touche' Ross & Co, he served as audit partner and was responsible for overseeing the audits of many large multi-national clients, as well as a number of companies listed on the Singapore Stock Exchange and other Stock Exchanges.

Heng retired from Touche' Ross & Co and started the firm of Pannell Kee Forster (PKF) Singapore, a member firm of PKF International. He served as the company's managing partner for twenty years. "I was very privileged to have managed two firms in Singapore that were well-known brands internationally" says Heng. "During his tenure as managing partner of PKF Singapore, PKF International was one of the top ten accounting firms in the world with more than 400 offices worldwide," he says. PKF Singapore merged with CAP Advisory LLP in 2007 and the firm is now practicing as PKF- CAP LLP. Heng retired from the firm shortly after the merger in 2007.

During his three decades at Touche' and PKF, Heng gained vast experience in a wide variety of areas, including hospitality consulting. He also handled assurance work such as statutory and internal audits, tax compliance and advisory services, conducted due diligence for mergers and acquisitions, and other related work.

Heng, 71, is director and/or shareholder of a number of investment, services, and trading companies in Singapore and abroad. His mainly serves in an advisory role for these firms. He is also very active in charities and non-profit organizations.
