Competitive Educational Video Games Tournament to be held in United Arab Emirates

Richmond, VA -- (SBWire) -- 05/13/2015 --On Thursday, May 14, 2015, the Birla Institute of Technology will host its first Math Olympiad competition using the DimensionU video gaming platform at its Offshore Campus in Ras Al Khaimah, UAE. The event will be a major student attraction at the institute's 2015 BITFEST, an annual event for high school students designed to introduce the university to potential future students.

The DimensionU Math Olympiad event was made possible through the company's recent partnership with Core Education & Consulting Solutions FZ LLC , a global education company headquartered in India, which owns the Birla Institute of Technology. "Inclusion of DimensionU at the 2015 BITFEST is a huge honor and an important step toward introducing and extending our immersive gaming platform beyond the United States and Canada," said DimensionU CEO Steven Hoy.

The competition will involve approximately 200 tenth grade students that will be divided into 64 teams of three students each, representing their respective high schools. The 64 teams will compete in clusters of four teams opposing one another and play four preliminary rounds. The top four preliminary teams will then compete in the Finals round to determine the overall winner. Participants will need to think fast and use their math skills in addition to gaming strategy in order to be successful.
