A 0.5% growth was noted as the increase took place in March. Analysts predicted a much lower growth, which was in line with the predicted slowdown of UK production through 2015.

The original decrease was due to the drop in oil and gas production in the North Sea, which was due to the falling prices in international markets, but a recovery in March has helped output return to more substantial production levels.

The 0.5% increase, while small, has beaten predictions and has helped contribute to the gross domestic product in the UK, something many analysts thought unthinkable. But predictions have been adjusted taking into account the recent recovery, which is expected to continue into the second quarter of the year.

Factories are predicted to regain their strength throughout 2015 thanks to the oil recovery, and the recent election results have also helped provide confidence for businesses to carry on investing and increasing production.
