Phoenix, AZ -- (SBWire) -- 08/24/2015 --Danielle Nierenberg is the Co-founder and President of 501c3 non-profit Food Tank and is a global crusader for a sustainable and equitable food supply. She will be the featured guest on Gen R radio on Tuesday, August 25 at noon PST, and will discuss the role family farms, decreasing food waste, and women farmers will play in fixing our broken food system. Join the show live, or On Demand, at http://www.GR.VoiceAmerica.com
Prior to starting Food Tank, Danielle spent two years traveling to more than 35 countries across sub-Saharan Africa, Asia, and Latin America. She co-founded Food Tank in 2013 as an organization focused on building a global community for safe, healthy, nourished eaters. Danielle has authored or contributed to several major reports and books and has spoken at hundreds of major conferences and events all over the world. She is a recognized expert on sustainable agriculture and food issues.
Danielle is a natural fit for Gen R radio because our mission is to provide information about regenerating the body, mind and spirit. Nothing is more necessary for our overall health and wellness than nourishing food. Unfortunately, the food system in America is more geared toward corporate profits than public health. The prevalence of cheap, processed, artificial, sugary, factory farmed and genetically modified (GM) foods is not serving our health, our communities or our environment. This approach is simply not sustainable.
Danielle will discuss why a return to smaller-scale factory farming is the sustainable approach, and the important role that women farmers must play in this transition. She will also educate us about the issue of food waste, and the novel solutions that are being developed to maximize our food production and feed the hungry, without the need for GM technology that has never been proven to be safe in long-term studies. Danielle will also tell us about upcoming Food Tank initiatives and summits, as their mission is to spotlight environmentally, socially, and economically sustainable ways of alleviating hunger, obesity, and poverty and create networks of people, organizations, and content to push for food system change.

About Generation Regeneration with Host Sandra Guy Malhotra, Ph.D.
Generation Regeneration provides information about achieving sustained physical, mental and spiritual health. Our focus is on integrating the best of modern medicine and holistic healing techniques to cure the root causes of disease and regenerate our whole selves. Unfortunately, this integrative approach is not widely practiced in conventional medical circles, where the focus is on treating physical symptoms only with pharmaceuticals and surgeries. Because of the inability of conventional medicine to treat our whole being and cure root causes of disease, we are facing an epidemic of obesity and chronic disease. However there is a way to break away from disease management and pursue true health by making better daily decisions about food, lifestyle, stress management, and spiritual re connection. We provide the road map to true health care by featuring a variety of guests, such as food movement activists, Functional M.D.'s, integrative health coaches, Shamanic healers, yoga adepts, and nutritionists.
