Manchester Airport Parking Experts Says David Cameron School Term Holiday Ban Is Not Working
Since 2013 parents in England have faced fines for taking their children out of school in term time. This new rule is not popular with parents, some MPs, and teachers. Two years later and it seems David Cameron’s aim to stop parents taking their children out of school has not worked.
Manchester, UK -- (SBWire) -- 09/18/2015 --A new report has echoed what a leading UK Airport Parking company has been saying for the past couple of years, that the school term holiday ban is not only unfair, but it also doesn't work.
UK Airport Car Parks, a company that helps holidaymakers save money on their airport parking needs by comparing all the prices available, has been outspoken on the unfair fine system. The company who believes the fine system should be scrapped is pleased to learn that over 50% of parents in the North West feel as strongly as they do.
A new report has found that over 50% of parents in the North West intend to ignore the ban over the next 12 months and take their children out of school so they can afford a family holiday. Each year tens of thousands of families are fined for taking their children out of school, but it seems parents are fighting back.
The survey, which asked 2,000 parents from around the country about their views, found that 82% of them were prepared to take their children out of school. According to the survey, parents in the North West were more likely to take their children out of school than parents in the South West.
Chris Fryer from UK Airport Car Parks said: "The results show what I have said for the past couple of years. The fine system is unfair. What the Prime Minister has to understand is, there are parents who live in the real world and cannot afford sky high holiday prices in the summer."
David Cameron and his government have claimed the school term holiday ban is working and was a good idea. However, the majority of parents do not agree. They are not the only ones who do not agree with the fine system, a large portion of teaches and the teaching union the NUT wants it scrapped.
UK Airport Car Park has said they would like to see the government allow parents to take their children out of school for one week per year in order for the children to have a holiday. The company has also brought up the question why schools are not fined for closing when they require teacher training days.
