Stone Theft Leaves Historic Village in Shock: London Stone Comments

London, England -- (SBWire) -- 11/18/2015 --There have been increasing reports of a criminal act in the West Sussex village of Bramber, which involved thieves taking valuable stone slabs from a historic property.

St Mary's House was the scene of the incident, and is a timber-framed house associated with the Knights Templar, built as early as 1470 in its present form. The residents of the property are now in dismay however, as on the 30th October, a group of thieves smashed open the electric gates of the house and removed valuable paving slabs from the grounds.

The property has a number of valuable stone features, which use the finest materials cut and co-ordinated to a beautiful layout. Thieves having ruined this, intruded on property, and taken these magnificent pieces of history is not only distressing for the owners, but the town.

About London Stone
Quick to comment on the incident was London Stone, a leading provider of quality stone solutions. The business is also a frequent commenter on current issues involving stone and in light of the crime, had this to say:

"We are shocked by the level of selfishness and lack of regard shown by those who removed the valuable stones from St Mary's House. Stone is a wondrous material which has the capacity to preserve history. That the stones have been stolen is not only an offence to the residents, but to the great history of the town. As the stone was such high quality, it is attractive and will attract monetary value: probably the motivation of the intruders. We want to express our condolences with all those who have been affected by the incident. We hope that the stones can be found and returned as soon as possible."
