Philadelphia, PA -- (SBWire) -- 11/18/2015 --When Jon Rusk, the co-owner and golf pro of the Lulu Country Club arrived to work at 6:30 am on October 18th, he thought it would be a typical work day at the golf course. It was far from it. When the smell of smoke seemed to spread and linger in the air, he called 911 and exited the club along with another worker. A blaze had erupted starting in the basement, causing a two-alarm fire that resulted in a complete loss of the building, despite the efforts of nearly a hundred firefighters. Thankfully, the blaze did not destroy the pro shop, golf carts or the golf course, but plans are already underway to reconstruct the country club.

The Lulu Country Club was operated by The CBM Group, also known as Catering By Mario's, along with their other banquet facility, Richmond Hall. Although the Lulu Country Club's commissary, offices and banquet hall were all demolished in the fire, the business was able to continue with their off-premise catering and event production at Richmond Hall due to the support of business acquaintances, vendors, staff and clients. For now, the golf course remains closed until temporary restroom facilities and the pro shop are set up.

A whole new building will be constructed for the clubhouse since no part of the structure was able to be saved. The caterers of Philadelphia are making arrangements to work out of a temporary trailer for the next year and set up a tent for use during the summertime as the new facility is being rebuilt.
