Coinciding with Mental Health Week, Childhood Anxiety Is the Topic of New Campaign Aimed at Early Intervention

Washington, DC -- (SBWire) -- 12/11/2015 --Michelle Tucker, a Washington, DC based Author, discusses her latest book and School Assembly Program, Hank Was Worried. Tucker describes the book as "a visually stunning new Children's Book that approaches Childhood Anxiety through the use of comforting and relatable images." Tucker's concern over the rise in Childhood Anxiety prompted her to action. "Kids face more stress than ever in our fast paced society. And some struggle much more than others. If left unresolved, Anxiety can lead to a variety of mental health issues later in life."

Based on the belief that managing anxiety must involve early intervention, Tucker spoke with experts and conducted focus groups. "I took traditional methods of dealing with Childhood Anxiety, and a few new ones as well, and depicted them via non-threatening characters and beautiful graphics. It makes the concepts easy and fun for young children to remember."

Hank Was Worried will be available in book form on Amazon and in various Retailers, and in e-book and audio book formats as well. "Having the e-book and audio book available on Kindle, Nook, Kobo, and iTunes will allow parents, teachers, therapists and social workers to produce Hank and his friends on their Kindle, Tablet, Laptop, or Phone, whenever it is needed to calm anxiety or to use as a teaching tool".

Tucker is raising funds in order to self publish the book, and launch a program aimed at teaching coping skills in Elementary Schools. "If we surpass our initial funding goal, we hope to take this program nationwide and conduct School Assemblies. We feel that coping techniques such as distraction, counting, breathing, and grounding should be taught at a young age, and be as natural as reciting the ABC's.
