Experts Warn of the Dangers of Energy Drinks

Correlation Found Between Energy Drink Consumption and Risky Behavior

Fort Lauderdale, FL -- (SBWire) -- 01/28/2016 --The energy drink market has been booming in the last twelve years. Energy drinks surpass even soft drinks and coffee sales in some western countries and states. These drinks contain most times double the amount of caffeine found in a regular cup of black coffee. Caffeine acts as the main active ingredient when it comes to promised energy rush that consumers get when drinking these products.

Health experts warn of the many dangers that come with constant energy drink consumption. Caffeine in itself is a potent substance, which, although not deadly in the amounts usually consumed, can produce many adverse side effects.

The main side effects of excessive caffeine consumption are heart palpitations, irritability, aggression and headaches. Consumers of caffeine may suffer from mild insomnia immediately after consumption. Regular consumers of caffeine no longer feel the energy rush irregular consumers do, but often feel the need to consume the substance because of the side effects of caffeine withdrawal.

Studies have shown a direct correlation between energy drink consumption and a higher chance to get into an accident or a fight. In teenagers, which is one of the top groups of energy drink consumers, caffeine can cause social problems and alter mental development, according to recent studies.

Health experts advise the public to find natural, healthy alternatives to energy drinks, which would offer the same energy rush, without the many side effects. One of the many alternatives is non-black tea, like green tea.

In a study were consumers of energy drinks were asked to substitute said drinks with another beverage, one of the groups that did best were those who were given Matcha tea instead.

About Matcha Tea
Matcha tea has been known for centuries to increase focus and help diminish tiredness. Scientists have found that it is the amino acid l-theanine together with the small amount of caffeine found in Matcha that offer this result. Matcha only contains a third of the caffeine of coffee and only a sixth of the caffeine found in regular energy drinks. Health experts agree that the amount of caffeine in Matcha, together with the many other healthy substances contained in it, make it an ideal candidate for consumers that want to switch from energy drinks to a healthier, energy boosting drink.
