Doylestown, PA -- (SBWire) -- 04/25/2016 --The Delaware Valley Industrial Resource Center (DVIRC), an economic development business consulting firm, serves the needs of small and mid-sized manufacturers (SMEs) in southeastern Philadelphia by providing consulting services, education and networking and business opportunities. The firm recently announced that it will partner with representatives from multiple universities, manufacturing institutes and businesses to form a committee about SMEs and their investments in advanced technologies. The committee, chaired by DVIRC board member Jim Williams, will investigate why some small and medium-sized manufacturers invest in advanced technologies, while some do not. The committee will include representatives from LEM Products, Inc., Design Innovation Institute, Deloitte Consultation, Siemens, Lockheed Martin and the University of Pennsylvania. Through the spring and early summer of 2016, the committee will conduct interviews and surveys with local SMEs, focused on developing a greater understanding of their reasons behind investing (or not investing) in technologies. In July 2016, the committee will produce a report and recommendations for action, with the intended outcome that the DVIRC will provide information to SMEs that help them make the smartest investment decisions for their individual success.
